One quick question though.
Good news for local Detroit Comcast customers..
SPORTSbyBROOKS » Comcast and Big Ten Network Finally Get Along?
All of this might happen, that is, if SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL accurately gauges the possibility that both sides will reach an agreement soon on carriage costs for Comcast to carry the Big Ten Network, ending the hopelessly overheated public rhetoric and underhanded tactics.
SPORTSbyBROOKS » Tigers’ Tata Starts Fight with Door, Loses Quickly
Jordan Tata has become the latest to come down with the disorder that overcame Joel Zumaya in 2006 in the form of Guitar Hero addiction and manifested itself again in 2007 with a ruptured tendon in his finger caused by wiggling his hand too fiercely.
The most recent manifestation with Zumaya came last winter when he did not pay proper attention to the Tigers’ latest pamphlet, “Avoid Being Crushed by Large Falling Objects“. This must have been disheartening for Tigers trainers and doctors that thought they had worked out the ‘Duh’ virus (working name) from his system.
No Inge trade to L.A.? One expert says it wont happen | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press
Foxsports.coms Ken Rosenthal, an authority on trade talks and issues, reported late Sunday that the Dodgers are seeking to trade for a low-salary player to help fill their infield gaps instead of high-salary players such as the Tigers Brandon Inge. Rosenthal added, “Even for high-revenue teams” such as the Dodgers, “significant payroll increases are rare during spring training.”
Drafting RB becomes higher priority - Detroit Lions: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio, Schedule & Stats - MLive.com
The Detroit Lions are reportedly bringing Tatum Bell back for one more year, a sure indication that the team will target a running back in the first three rounds of the draft. If the Lions had signed a veteran free agent like Julius Jones to a long-term deal, drafting a running back wouldnt have been as crucial. Now that both Bell and Kevin Jones will be unrestricted free agents after the 2008 season, acquiring a young running back has gained priority.
Verlander unscored on in 8 innings during spring training - MLB - Yahoo! Sports
Justin Verlander is looking good.
The Detroit Tigers’ ace threw three scoreless innings, striking out three and walking none in Monday’s 4-3 victory over the Washington Nationals.
“He used all of his pitches and he had a very good curveball today,” Detroit manager Jim Leyland said.
Verlander has pitched eight scoreless innings during the exhibition season. Monday marked the first time this spring Verlander threw his breaking ball with regularity. The 2007 All-Star pitched out of a jam in the third inning, striking out his final batter— Austin Kearns—with two men on and the Tigers ahead 2-0.
“When he got in a little trouble and Kearns came up, who’s a very good big league hitter, he really was bearing down on him,” Leyland said. “Fortunately, he put him away. He turned it up a notch.”
Tony Stewart slams Goodyear at 2008 Atlanta race
Goodyear, bad day: Tires a testy topic at Atlanta - USATODAY.com
Goodyear’s response:
Finally, we would like to correct an erroneous comment made by Tony Stewart. Goodyear decided to leave other racing series only because of the escalating costs of competition in those series. At least one other tiremaker has done the same. For Goodyear, the enormous investment required to compete in those other forms of racing far outweighed the benefits derived from our participation. We see tremendous benefits in our 54-year relationship with NASCAR as the organizations longest continuing supplier. We remain fully committed to, and are proud of, our relationship with NASCAR.
Wings’ Grind Line could return, but Darren McCarty can’t practice — yet | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press
Darren McCarty, attempting a comeback after not playing NHL hockey since last April, was at Joe Louis Arena to get treatment for a rib cage injury. “He’s not available to practice at this point,” Babcock said. “Obviously, it’s discouraging for Mac. The only way he can get in our lineup and make an impression is if he’s healthy, so the first priority is getting him healthy.”
Good thing the Lions signed Tatum Bell- (or not) Dunn sign with Bucs
ESPN - Veteran running back Dunn signs with Buccaneers - NFL
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing back one of the most popular players in franchise history, signing free-agent running back Warrick Dunn on Monday night.
Dunn was drafted in the first round by Tampa Bay in 1997 and was the teams feature back until leaving for Atlanta in 2002. He remains third on the teams all-time rushing list with 4,200 yards. The Bucs initially let Dunn go because of concerns about salary cap space and his durability.
Chelios says Wings will be playing at Yankee Stadium next season - Detroit Red Wings Hockey: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio, Schedule & Stats - MLive.com
Wings defenseman Chris Chelios claims the Wings will be playing the Rangers in that rumored outdoor game at Yankee Stadium next season.
“I heard Detroit’s playing,” Chelios said after practice Monday. “Awesome, to be part of the last event at Yankee Stadium would be something special.”
There is no official word from the Wings or the NHL. The league is reportedly considering the Bruins as a possible opponent for the Rangers, if that game were to take place.
The game, if it materializes, could be on Jan. 1. That’s when Pittsburgh played at Buffalo this year in the first outdoor NHL game in the U.S.
